My Favourite Post-Workout Snack

I am always thinking about food. Even as I type this, I’m thinking about the fish I’ve put in the oven for my tea, along with the cottage pie I’m cooking tomorrow.

So I thought I would share with you one of my favourite post-workout snacks.

Straight after my workout I have my protein shake so that I can get as much protein in as possible. But then after around 30 minutes I start to get hungry, knowing that I still have at least a couple of hours before I eat again.

Rice cakes are often seen as a diet food, eaten by people who want to lose weight. But they are a good source of high-energy carbs your muscles need to lift those weights. They also contain no fats, so that’s an added bonus.

They make up a good pre and post workout, depending what you top them with. But for post-workout I top them with a dollop of peanut butter (my current favourite is the Dr Zak’s Sweet Banoffee Pie Peanut Butter – if you haven’t tried this already you’re seriously missing out here) and some slices of banana, giving me the protein, carbs and fats I need after my workout.

Let me know if you try this and what you think. If there are some different toppings you’ve tried, let me know!

Happy munching!

A.x
